For the last couple of weeks students have been involved in a rotational learning strategy which allows for small group differentiated lessons. While one group gathers on the carpet for spelling instruction, the other half of the class may be at their desks working on writing essays or finishing a foldable on root words. This rotation has been enhanced with the additional help of Mrs. Sherbern, our intern, sharing in the small group instruction.
Students have turned in the first revision of their Exhibition essay, which was due the 31st. Essays will be proof read and returned to students so they may type or write the final essay which is due April 14th .
We have been weaving a lot of science into this unit, specifically the properties of matter and atomic theory. As we moved along the natural progression of learning about the smallest particle of matter, to the elements and compounds, then mixtures and solutions, we are culminating this unit with a field trip to the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology https://www.idahomuseum.org/. There we hope to get a look at what geological features helped shape our environment along with the rocks and mineral found in the Earth's crust.
